Financial Assistance and Free Services/Programs

Cleaning for a Reason – Free maid services while undergoing treatment.

Breast Cancer Emergency Fund – Provides low-income San Franciscans with emergency financial assistance while receiving treatment for breast cancer. BCEF considers current immediate monthly income, not annual, and does not count personal assets (such as cars, homes or savings). BCEF pays rent, utilities, uninsured medical expenses.

Lifelines – provides support to women and men with breast cancer in San Francisco including financial assistance, meals, transportation, wellness workshops and more.

Sense of Security, Inc. – Provides financial assistance to women with breast cancer in Colorado.

Exams & Screening

Breast Health Access for Women with Disabilities – BHAWD is a non-profit organization that provides free breast exams and education for women with disabilities.

JANE CUSUMANO FOUNDATION - Established by Chateau Wally Films to honor the last request of writer/director Jane Cusumano, who lost her four-year battle with breast cancer one month after directing a major motion picture, What Matters Most. Provides information on breast cancer prevention and treatment, funding for diagnostics and treatment to underserved women, and research dollars directed at preventing and curing breast cancer.

Food

Project Open Hand – offers free meals to breast cancer patients undergoing treatment (including hormonal therapy) who live in San Francisco or Alameda County.   There are no other qualifying criteria.   415-447-2321.

Project Angel Food – Provides free meal delivery to persons newly diagnosed with breast cancer as well as breast cancer survivors in the Los Angeles area.

Complementary Care

The Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic – a state licensed clinic located in Oakland and San Francisco that provides free complementary alternative medical treatments to low income women with cancer.

Marina Lee U’ilani Bermudez Alternative Breast Cancer Treatment Fund – provids support for alternative and complementary treatments for women with breast cancer in Santa Cruz,the San Francisco Bay Area and Hawaii.

HERS Breast Cancer Foundation provides programs and support for breast cancer patients and their families, including offering reike, yoga, tai chi, meditation and visualization and writing circles in Fremont, California.

Airline Assistance

Angel Flight - Provides free airline transportation to specialized health facilities.

AirLifeline – Through volunteer pilots, provides free airline transportation for healthcare access
