4 More Weeks Until Competition Time!

I attended the posing class on Saturday.  I saw a few gals that I will be competing.  Some of them looked great so I realized I have to step it up a bit.  I now have added more cardio to my workout.  On Saturday I was on the elyptical machine for 45 minutes.  Then did some rowing and more elyptical workout on Sunday.

I now have to go down to about 75grams of carbs each day and up my water intake.  Being hungry all the time is not fun.  No more salad dressing, I have cut back on rice cakes, and will increase my protein intake. My target is to lose a pound each week to weigh in for the show around 85 or 86lbs.  Yes, I am a very petite gal.  I have to look tight in order to get placed in the top 5.  That’s my goal this time around.

I just ordered my posing suit.  The material is crushed glass red with rhinestones on the top and bottom of the suit.  I’m having it custom fit to my body.  I should have the suit done in a week.

As it gets closer to the competition date, it is getting harder.  I have to cut a bit more out of my diet and more lifting.  So far I look pretty symmetrical, but need to work a bit more on my arms.  My abs are showing, which is great since I had a 42lb baby 5 years ago.  I didn’t think my stomach will flatten out, but it did.  Diet is the key if you want a washboard ab.

In Memory of My Dear Friend – Lori Ann McElyea

It has been a very sad week for us breast cancer survivors. I found out on Wednesday that my dear friend Lori passed away. She was only 39 years old, a mother, wife, and battling with breast cancer for the third time for the past 6 years. I met her through my young support group about two years ago. She is such a delight. When she told us she had cancer again, I remember she didn’t show any anger or sadness. She always seemed to be very positive and happy. That is what so amazing about her.

To give back, she volunteered her time with the Komen race each year and helped raise money for other charities. I know she was suffering from the side effects of her treatments so I know she is pain-free now and at peace. I am happy that she is no longer suffering, but sad that I have lost a sister.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

10 & 13 year girls diagnosed with breast cancer…

According to ABCNews.com on October 7, 2009 a 13 year old girl, Taylor Thompsom from Little Rock, AK, was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She found a lump in her breast and the doctor diagnosed it as a fast-growing, potentially malignant tumor.  Read more about this young girl’s diagnoses with breast cancer here.

Back in May 2009, a 10 year old girl made national news with a shocking diagnoses of breast cancer.  Her name was Hannah Powell-Auslam of Fullerton, CA.  She had her breast removed at the age of 10 years old.  This is so shocking.  It is rare for a women under 40 years old to be diagnosed with breast cancer, but a child?  This disease sure does not seek out older women anymore. Watch her interview with ABC News below.
